Midsommar 2026

Glad midsommar!

For the midsummer this year, Johannes and I went to Nääs slott to the public event there. There were so many people and the weather was perfect. Though I thought it was a bit too sunny for me. We just walked around the area and checked out the castle for a bit from the outside. The event was lovely and lively. Families picnicked and enjoyed the weather together. Kids were playing around. The pole was erected smoothly. No rain. No drama. Just some clouds and breezy wind.

From last month, I got some new plants for my balcony-Japanese holly, Thuja ‘Fire Chief’, Juniper ‘Blue Star’, Coleus ‘Down Town Santa Monica’, and houseleek (Sempervivum). I also planted some flower seeds that I bought from a mixed sachet called “Last minute”. Let’s see if I could get them to bloom within this summer. My wild strawberry were blooming and some berries were forming. I had quite high expectation on them XD I really hoped that I would get to taste some!

This month I arranged one Thai dinner at my apartment with some colleagues. We ate papaya salad (made from kohlrabi, not green papaya though), crispy pork belly, some fresh and steamed veggies with different chilli pastes, and sticky rice. They got to try new recipes and experienced eating sticky rice like Thai people. It was quite a spicy meal but we enjoyed it pretty much. Therefore, I called it success!

Lastly, there was a Club Afry event that I attended. We went to see some underground places in Gothenburg. It was a guided tour. I didn’t know that such places even existed! The first one was some sort of tunnel under Pedagogen. Another one was a tunnel under the old city wall. It’s called Carolus Undecimus Rex. It was quite an interesting walk around these historical places.

See you later,
Best
